Measuring your base size

What you need

A soft tape measure, a mirror, and five minutes in daylight. A rigid ruler will not follow the curve of the head and reads short.

The four measurements

One: front to back, from your hairline to the point where coverage should end. Two: side to side, across the widest part of the thinning. Three: the length of the parting itself. Four: the circumference of your head, just above the ears and around the occipital bone.

Reading the numbers

Round up, never down — a base slightly larger than the area blends better than one that leaves an edge showing. Our base sizes are listed in inches; one inch is 2.54 cm, so a 5×5 base covers roughly 12.7 × 12.7 cm.

If the numbers fall between sizes

Send us all four measurements and a photo. We will tell you which base size to take, or whether the area is better served by a bespoke base.
